Throughout America, major changes are happening in the bathroom, especially in the shower.

North Atlanta expanded rapidly from 1980 to 2005, and that was the era of jetted tubs dominating the bathroom, claustrophobic gold framed showers, poor lighting and the use of materials that promoted mold and mildew (grout).

“We see this every day,” says John Hogan, owner of Bath & Kitchen Galleria @bathandkitchengalleria in Alpharetta. “Homeowners are tired of recurring grout issues, and they want their bathrooms to be a soothing pleasant experience.”

Bath & Kitchen Galleria just completed their 1,000th project, and bathrooms are their primary type of project. “We have a formula that works for homeowners that balances bathroom aesthetics, function and price,” says Hogan.

Approximately 100 business owners, professionals and residents gathered in Fellowship Hall at Johns Creek Baptist Church last month for the Sept. 24 Johns Creek Financial Wellness Summit. The free, four-hour public event ran from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and offered attendees clear, practical guidance on the changing economy — the kind most often reserved for private-banking clients.

Co-hosted by The Rotary Club of Johns Creek @johnscreekrotary, the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce @johnscreekchamber and Johns Creek Baptist Church @johnscreekbc, and moderated by award-winning journalist, Donna Lowry, the summit included panel discussions, as well as one-on-one interviews with financial experts.

Before Medley @medleyjohnscreek even welcomes its first grand-opening crowd, Toro Development Company has been asking a question that has nothing to do with leases, restaurants or parking — Who can we help?

For Carla Cox, vice president of marketing for Toro, the answer needed to be local. Medley is being developed as a gathering place for Johns Creek, so its first major nonprofit partnership should reflect the community it hopes to join. Toro’s search led them to the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra @johnscreeksymphony.

“When we set out to do this, one of the big components was finding a nonprofit charity that we could work with,” Cox said. “A lot of our philosophies in our planning and execution is: How can we give back to the community, and who is it that needs that support at the time?”
