One of the city’s most rocking fun events will be back on March 7 as the Battle of the Bands returns to the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park for a night of music, community and friendly competition.

Local musicians — youth and adult — are invited to apply now to have their band take part in this year’s event, hosted by the City of Johns Creek.

Last year’s battle

Last year’s competition was a blast for the performers and the audience. Six bands took the stage, showcasing a variety of songs, followed by an encore performance from returning champs, School of Rock.

The youth winners, Deturna, a three-person, teen rock band, and the adult winners, Hydra Fighter, a local Americana/indie rock group, each took home trophies and bragging rights after incredible performances.

As winners of the battle, they went on to perform as opening acts during the city’s Summer Concert Series, which runs May through September.
