The Region Leadership Conference was held January 15 at Alpharetta High School; State competition is set for March at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.
In mid-January, 35 Johns Creek High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members headed to Alpharetta High School to compete in the annual Region Leadership Conference Competition.
In total, over 130 members participated in the January 15 event, with additional competitors taking part in testing events held the previous month.
Upon entering the high school, there was “a palpable buzz in the air,” said members of the JCHS team. For many, it was the first in-person competition of the 2025-2026 cycle. The excitement, paired with nerves over advancing, charged the atmosphere.
The excitement of the day
The members of the Johns Creek chapter huddled around their tables in a whirlwind of motion while officers assembled nametags, distributed meal tickets and wheeled in monitors and clickers. Experienced members guided the newer competitors to their rooms, offering last-minute advice and rehearsal support.

The halls were filled to the brim with anxious competitors and a hushed trepidation. Students from different schools wished each other luck before being ushered into their respective judging rooms, clutching their laptops and going over their lines.
Moving on to the State Conference
Ultimately, 34 of the 130+ members were able to advance to the State Leadership Conference that will occur in March at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. There, competitors will face chapters from across the state for a chance to qualify for Nationals. Last year, Johns Creek had 13 teams place in the top ten.
As the chapter looks ahead to state competition, members remain committed not only to success, but to growth — supporting each other and learning as much as possible along the way.
