Here’s our quick roundup of the city’s latest news, updates and reminders as we head into February.
Mayor and city council members sworn in this month
Mayor John Bradberry and Council Members Dilip Tunki, Bob Erramilli and Larry DiBiase were sworn into office by Municipal Court Chief Judge Donald Schaefer during the city council meeting on January 12.
Tunki serves City Council Post 1, Erramilli serves Post 3 and DiBiase serves Post 5.
During the meeting, Council Member Erin Elwood was elected by the council to serve as mayor pro tem.

Water fountains at Johns Creek parks
FYI, if you’re heading out to any of the Johns Creek parks, water fountains are turned off for winter to protect against freezing temperatures. They will be reactiviated in March.
Park restrooms are still open and have running water, but the city advises you to bring your own water bottles with you if you plan to “hit the trails or playgrounds” this season.
Privet clearing at Shakerag Park
City staff and community volunteers recently removed 300 pounds of Chinese Privet from Shakerag Park.
Chinese privet is an invasive plant species in the Southeast and spreads quickly through roots and seeds. Left unchecked, it crowds out native plants and creates a monoculture that limits food and habitat for local wildlife. Reducing the amount of invasive species helps enhance the local ecosystem.

Business tax certificate renewals
A reminder that Johns Creek business owners can now renew their business occupation tax certificates online through the city’s CSS Portal for the 2026 calendar year.
The business tax renewals will no longer be mailed. Renewals are due by March 31. Learn more here.
Senior Homestead Exemptions for 2026
The Fulton County Board of Assessors is currently accepting applications for new senior homestead exemptions for the Fulton County School District, tax year 2026.
Eligible Johns Creek homeowners that are 65 and over may qualify for significant reductions in school property taxes. Seniors must apply for these exemptions by April 1, even if they already have other exemptions.
You can apply online or in person. County staff will review your information and apply all exemptions for which you qualify.
