The latest retail, restaurant, townhomes and art program updates

We’re just over five months away from the opening of Medley in Johns Creek. The much-anticipated first phase of the 43-acre mixed use community from Toro Development Company (TDC) is set to open on October 29.

It’s second phase, Encore, is scheduled for 2027. And an onsite, 150-key, luxury boutique hotel, developed and operated by Mainsail, a respected lodging and development company, will make its debut in 2028.

Approved and announced in 2022, Medley plans to be the “first day-to-night destination” in the city, a vibrant “third place” that offers the opportunity to live, work, play, eat and shop in one destination.

According to a 2025 release about the development, Medley will “infuse resort-style hospitality throughout its walkable streets and community gathering spaces, which will be programmed with more than 200 events each year.”

Retail and restaurants

The $560 million project broke ground in January 2025 and a variety of retail and restaurant concepts quickly came on board, building momentum for the project and excitement within the community.

In February and again in April of this year, TDC announced new additions to the lineup.

The property’s retail mix now includes Trader Joe’s, Shake Shack, Kontour Medical Spa, Moop’s Boutique, Northern China Eatery, Warby Parker, Tabla, Hollow Oak, The Nest Café  and CT Cantina & Taqueria — ‘A-players’ in every category.

“The latest retail momentum further cements Medley as a premier destination for fashion, wellness, dining and lifestyle experiences,” said Kimberly Goetz, vice president of leasing at TDC. “As we surpass the 75% leased milestone, it’s clear that both national brands and local concepts believe in our vision of Medley as a connected and vibrant Third Place.”

“The countdown to [the] grand opening is on, and we can’t wait for the Johns Creek community to experience the energy of Medley’s thoughtfully selected retail mix,” Goetz added.

Empire Homes recently shared a “coming soon” announcement on social media, with details about the new Tableau townhomes being made available.

From their Instagram post: “Located in the heart of Medley, this highly anticipated neighborhood will place you steps from curated dining, boutique shopping, green spaces and everyday experiences designed to bring community to life.

With beautifully designed townhomes, open-concept layouts and a lifestyle centered around connection, convenience and energy, this is where you’ll want to be.”

The townhomes will start at $700,000+ and feature high-end touches throughout. Design details such as front yard terraces or custom outdoor spaces, open areas for entertaining and large windows to let in lots of natural light are a few of the features to expect.

To be one of the first to explore floor plans and pricing or secure a spot in the townhome community, register online at the Tableau at Medley page on the Empire Homes website.

Public art program led by artist Greg Mike

In addition to retail and restaurants, green space and living space, TDC has also partnered with Greg Mike, Atlanta-based contemporary artist and founder of ABV Agency & Gallery, to lead the art program for Medley. The signature program includes a property-wide collection of murals, sculptures and installations that will play a vital role in activating Medley’s public realm.

“We’re on a mission to develop Medley as a great Third Place for the people of Johns Creek, and public art is essential to that vision,” said TDC founder and chief vision officer Mark Toro.

“With a creative partner like Greg Mike and ABV onboard, we will seamlessly integrate art into Medley’s mixed-use DNA, giving the community even more opportunities to make unique and emotional connections here.”

The importance of public art

The art program will feature several commissioned pieces by Mike, as well as works from ABV’s network of nationally and internationally recognized artists. The collection is designed to bring added energy, creativity and connection to Medley through artist-driven environments woven throughout the destination.

Installations will begin in August, with final touches and select live art moments culminating as part of Medley’s grand opening on October 29.

“Public art has always been about creating energy and moments people remember,” said Greg Mike. “At Medley, we have the opportunity to transform everyday spaces into experiences that feel dynamic, unexpected and deeply connected to the community. The goal is to create artwork that becomes part of the identity of Medley, something people return to, interact with and carry with them long after they leave.”

More about Medley

Located at the intersection of Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road, Medley will encompass 164,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space designed around the public realm.

There will be 833 luxury residences (featuring a mix of townhomes and apartments), a 150-key boutique hotel, 110,000 square feet of lifestyle office space and a 25,000-square-foot Plaza.
