Holiday Guide 2025: Parties, Performances and Holiday Happenings

The holidays are here! That means it’s time to look for the perfect gifts, enjoy good food and special time with friends and family and create magical memories of the season.

Johns Creek kicked off the holiday season with the Holly Jolly Block Party at city hall on December 5 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. With family-friendly fun and festivities, food, holiday llamas, the lighting of the 40-foot tree and Santa, himself, the annual event is a great start to winter festivities.

If you missed it, don’t worry! There are more opportunities to get out and soak up some holiday cheer and enjoy incredible performances while you’re at it.

Upcoming events

Perimeter Ballet‘s annual production of The Nutcracker takes to the stage in the Perimeter Church Sanctuary on December 12 and 13, with three showtimes to choose from. This beloved holiday tradition wraps up the ballet company’s special 30th anniversary year. Tickets are $15 and are available now.

Kids of all ages are invited to  have Breakfast with Santa on December 13 at 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. The special event will be held at Park Place at Newtown and feature St. Nick, lots of delicious goodies, music, holiday crafts and more. $20 per resident child; $30 per non-resident child. Registration is required.

Metro Atlanta Dance will present their production of The Nutcracker on December 13 at Mount Pisgah Christian School at 9820 Nesbit Ferry Road. Featuring dancers from their youth and adult companies, the show tells the classic tale through a variety of different dance styles. There are three showtimes: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., livestream is available for each and tickets are on sale now.

The Ocee Library is hosting two days of family-friendly Christmas movies on December 13 and December 20. Showing on the 13: Home Alone at 11 a.m., Elf at 12:50 p.m. and The Santa Clause at 3:30 p.m. On December 20, the movies will be Snow Dogs at 11 a.m., The Grinch at 1 p.m. and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at 3 p.m. Free to attend. Seats are limited. Register online to save your space.

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra has two festive performances scheduled for the holidays. The first is IMAGINE: Kids’ Christmas Concert on December 20 at 2 p.m. Families are invited to experience the joy of Christmas in a sensory-friendly environment. There will be a special narrator, sing-alongs, dancers and an appearance from Santa Claus.

At 7:30 p.m. on December 20, the JCSO will present IMAGINE: From Our Family to Yours, a holiday concert featuring expressive arrangements of seasonal classics. Guest narrator Ben Asaaf, the Fleetwood Dancers, Maria McDaniel Willathgamuwa and the debut of the “Christmas Voices of Johns Creek” sing-along will all be part of this spectacular show.
